Description of Iridium Wire

Iridium is a rare, precious metal that is hard, and brittle, and has a low ductility, which makes it a difficult material to work. In appearance, it is a lustrous, silvery metal. As might be expected from its position in the periodic table, iridium is stable to air and water and is not attacked by any acids, including "aqua regia." Iridium wire is a thin wire-like iridium metal. The resistivity of the iridium wire is 6.03×10^-2Ωmm²/m, the tensile strength is 1493MPa, and the elongation is 10%-20%. The iridium wire can be used as high-temperature oxidation-resistant thermocouple material and filament material.
