Alumina Tube Description

1. What are alumina tubes' limits in resisting temperatures?

Aluminum oxide tubes typically possess a temperature resistance between 1400°C and 1750°C, depending on purity and manufacturing quality. High-purity tubes (99.7% and above) possess high thermal stability and are best applied to high-temperature applications like industrial furnaces and safeguarding thermocouples.

2. How chemically resistant and robust are Al2O3 tubes?

These tubes have very high mechanical strength, very good compressive and bending strength. They also have very good chemical resistance, being resistant to most alkalis and acids, and are more than adequate in providing endurance in harsh industrial environments.

3. Are your alumina tubes porous?

Yes, all of our alumina tubes are non-porous and dense. They are made by high-temperature sintering in order to offer maximum mechanical strength, chemical resistance, and gas-tight operation.

Alumina Tube in Thermal CVD Tube Furnace

Application: A controlled atmosphere tube furnace designed for thermal Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)

Challenge: The furnace required a material for the core tube that would withstand high temperature and provide a stable, controlled atmosphere for processes such as depositing thin carbon films from methanol.

Solution: High-density alumina tube was selected for application in the production of the furnace tube.

Implementation: The built furnace contained three distinct temperature zones, with the central zone featuring a maximum temperature of 650°C. For efficiency and minimized heat loss, the assembly was insulated with materials like asbestos and glass wool.

Outcome: The use of the alumina tube facilitated a robust furnace structure with good temperature management (an accuracy of ±1°C). The setup successfully facilitated the said CVD processes, allowing deposited film structures to be investigated using techniques like optical microscopy, FT-IR, and SEM
